Micheaux Program Purpose
Theatre can empower
individuals and communities. Theatre is a
force that can unite, uplift, teach, build
communities, inspire, and heal.
The Oscar Micheaux Theater program as sponsored by Tri-Ad
Veterans League, Inc.’s is a repertoire community based family theater program
and has used the principle of collaboration strategically for its growth. One
of the goals is to become a traveling troupe, performing at venues at
educational/cultural institutions and in places that do not normally see
cultural productions in the format of music and dance based on history generate
sustaining funds to defray expenses and for small scholarship development.
Sponsorship is encouraged through being a sponsor of the entire performance, block
ticket purchases or donations either financially or in-kind services. Sponsor’s
names are included in all promotional publications during the performance
season and are guest at the promotional and the annual thank you program held
at the close of the production season.
Project Goals:
§
To
establish a year-round community based family theater organization.
§
To
perform a full theater production at learning institutions or community venue
giving community folks the opportunity to see a full staged production by
people from the community.
§
To teach
the importance of community service through performance.
