STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT SHOW!

The Oscar Micheaux Family Theater Program offers wonderful shows with a diverse, inter-generational cast. African-American history is used as script-source material, which teaches not only audiences, but also the cast participants, about this wonderful artistic legacy.

The Company serves as an experiential, community service learning practicum for those seeking professional careers in theater arts and related fields. We are dedicated to enriching lives and encouraging healthy futures for our students and our communities through enriching education. Infusing African-American history into every element of production is an OMTP paramount and serves as the Company’s sole purpose.

In addition to the annual performances of From Gospel to Hip-Hop and All in Between and The Harlem Renaissance Revisited with a Gospel Flavor, the OMTP performs historical vignettes to teach young audiences about The Harlem Renaissance Period to students of all ages.

Cast members portray multiple roles in each show and must be able to sing, act, and dance. Student cast members learn about stage management, ticket operations, lighting, audio, ensemble acting, properties management, set design and stagecraft, vocal performance, blocking, costuming, and more under the mentorship of senior cast members and professionals in residence. With direction by Ruby Hill, choreography by Stajez Dance Company, music direction by Berklee SYSTEM 5 graduate Adonis Martin, and a radiant cast, The OMTP has been livening stages and bringing history to life for TEN full seasons!

Many thanks to Michael Cleaves for new photographs!
